Testimonial

I love the main vocalist’s voice and I like the music as well. Very nicely done. The empowerment does, indeed, come through, but I see this song as a throw-down too, a dare for the listener to bring it and understand that ‘I will NOT give you aid, I MUST demur.’ I was very pleasantly surprised to see this late last night. I’ve played the song so often at full volume my cats don’t even blink anymore. I’m totally impressed. I believe we have finally it.

Story Behind the Song

The lyricist states "Cri de Coeur”, the song I created with the help from Songmaker Productions, was written from my vampire novels (Never Before Noon, etc.) in the persona of the defiant daughter of progressive rock legends. I sent the lyrics in the day after the Paris attacks of 2015, and David Hawkins of Songmaker asked from the beginning if I had written them with Paris in mind. I wish I could say I had. But the song title, in French, means, cry of the heart, and the more I listed to it, the more I hear what David heard. One could say the singer is voicing her outrage. To paraphrase, the lyrics of Bernie Taupin in the Elton John classic “Your Song,” I know it’s not much, but it’s the best I can do to voice my protest, however belatedly. I’ve never visited the City of Lights, but fireworks are how I imagine its spirit.
