Your Lyrics in a Song Make a Great Gift

Think about what makes you happy.  Take a minute and ponder that.

There are endless answers to what makes a person happy.  Most likely, somewhere on that list of thoughts, is music.  We love music.  So now think about why we love music.  Depending on what type of music you like, your experience can be relaxing, exciting, loving, soft, hard, loud, quiet, soothing, funny, the list goes on and on.  There may be a song that you and your partner like to listen to together.  You often hear people say “that’s our song”, meaning the couple chose a song that has deep meaning to them, so much so that it becomes “theirs”.  A lot of times the reason they choose a specific song is because the words have meaning to them as a couple.  They relate to it and it makes them feel good.

There are a lot of songs out there.  In fact, there are so many that inevitably there is a song that can relate to your life, love, or way of thinking.  You hear it and you think “yes, I totally relate to that!”  It’s a good feeling to know that someone else feels similar.  Someone that has been through something you have experienced and was talented enough to write a song about it.  It’s awesome.  I’m showing my age here, but when I was younger, we used to make “mix tapes”.  They were songs that expressed how we felt about the person we liked.  It was great to receive that tape cassette because of the heartfelt thought behind it.  You’re listening to those words thinking “this person thinks this about me - wow”.  It was a great way to show someone how you felt about them… from a song that someone else wrote - for someone that was not you.  But it was close enough to relate to it and give it to the person to make them feel it. The mixtape progressed in to CD’s, and now digital downloads.

Today there’s another way.

Without being musical - or a professional writer - you can have your words and thoughts composed into a song - professionally and affordably – the way you want it to sound.  If you don’t remember what the mixtape experience is like – you may have told another person at some point in your life to listen to a song that you felt was close to how you felt about them.  This is a gift.  Music and lyrics are a perfect vessel to deliver a heartfelt message.  In the past we have had to rely on music that was already composed.  Someone else’s thoughts and feelings on what they felt for their person.

With the rise of technology, professional musicians and vocalists can create your own personal mixtape today.  Creating a song for someone (even if you are not a musician) is an excellent, emotional, gift.  You are letting the person know exactly how you feel from your own words. You’re not picking a song written by someone else, for someone else.  It makes a great gift because it lasts a lifetime.  If you are anything like me, you listen to songs that impact you over and over again throughout your life.

Giving the gift of your own words in a song to someone you care about is an awesome experience.  You will never forget the emotion from the receiver and you will be completely surprised of the emotional feeling you get as the giver.  It’s perfect.
