What is EDM?

E.D.M. is an acronym for Electronic Dance Music.  There are a lot of other subsets of EDM; many of them being genres in their own right.

EDM is popular in the dance music scene.  Raves, club music, discotheques, musical festivals, small bars, full blown concerts, college frats and sororities… the list goes on (and on).   EDM is more “synthesized,” featuring computer drums and computer-generated sounds.  There are several types of EDM, though, and the music can be made by millions of combinations.  As a matter of fact, I’d go as far to say it’s limitless.  This is the type of genre that will be ever evolving and changing as the technology grows.

Here are some subsets of EDM:

  • House

  • Techno

  • Dance

  • Trap

  • Dubstep

  • Trance

There’s a good article with videos and many more subsets of EDM (including famous musician/bands) from the company, Complex Media.  Check it out experience some EDM.

Dance on friends!
