What is a Diss Track

Type into Google, ‘What is a diss track?’ and you’ll find:

“A diss track or diss song is a song primarily intended to disparage or insult another person or group.  While musical parodies and attacks have always existed, the trend became increasingly common in the hip hop genre as part of the hip hop rivalry phenomenon.”

This is what it is in a nutshell.

Most of the time, diss tracks come from YouTubers wanting to diss another YouTuber for calling them out on something… either personally or professionally (whatever their YouTube page may be about).  They then create lyrics that bad mouth them.  Often times it becomes this back and forth thing… with people who follow their page leaving negative remarks in the comments section, or on the contrary, defending them in some way.  It’s pretty comical in my view.  Keyboard warriors.

Here at YourSongmaker.com we do produce diss tracks if they don’t contain hateful ideology.  We are quite good at them, but if I’m being honest here, they are not my favorite – or even close to my favorite.  The production teams and I are all about the positive!

If you would like learn more, you will find many examples on the internet.  That’s about all I have to say on this subject.

The late Rodney King said it best, “Can’t we all just get along?”

Peace!
