Story Behind the Song
Dan tells the story of a beautiful teenage girl sitting alone on her bed, staring at a silent phone and feeling rejected because no one has asked her to a dance. Her mom comforts her, explaining that sometimes boys are too intimidated to ask a girl they think will say no. Just when her hope is fading and she’s ready to return the dress, her phone finally rings. It’s the nervous “geeky” boy from up the street.
